Having watched the House Financial Markets Regulation Subcommittee inquiry yesterday into the alleged Bernie Madoff scam, it should occur to anyone capable of connecting the dots there probably are career professionals within the SEC who were aware of the fraud.

It's probably only a matter of time, then, before someone squeals. Clearly, the scam does not begin and end with Bernie Madoff. So, the question is, "Where's the weakest link in the chain?"
