(CNBC) House of Cards: Exposing Weapons of Mass Extortion

[Post Summary]

His mouth is most sweet, Yes, he is altogether lovely.

The role Wall Street played in creating the ongoing, global financial crisis has been put squarely in the cross hairs with CNBC's original documentary appropriately called House of Cards. Anyone serious about righting the listing ship called the United States of America should watch this riveting piece of journalism. It provides a map to the graveyard where still loose financial serial killers are burying their human weapons of mass extortion.

Things must really be getting serious. When the network most responsible for rationalizing the build-out of the greatest financial bubble in world history is condemning its very own benefactor, it's a little like watching the transfiguration of Jesus Christ on the opposite side of the spectrum. In the natural world this sort of thing is called "CYA." Is this what CNBC and its financially challenged (soon-to-be-bankrupt?) mother ship are attempting?

One need only think back to March 2008 when the network helped feed rumors of Bear Stearns' pending demise...

Could the timing of CNBC's "House of Cards" presentation possibly be related to the upcoming PBS Frontline documentary titled, "Inside the Meltdown" (airing February 17, 2009)? We will see soon enough.

Uncharacteristically, "House of Cards" did not perpetuate a lot of mystery by way of unanswered questions defying some reasonable sense about what must be done to end this ridiculous chapter in American History. Their are a number of casualties — both financial and human — hanging in the balance. These must be addressed.

If in fear one ought not lose heart, then in rage one ought not lose heart either. Therefore, in separating the wheat from the chaff we ought be sensitive to those who had every reason to believe promises they were being made were on the up — homeowners, municipal investors, pension investors etc. — and distinguish these from those who knew it was all a House of Cards.
