Public Safety Demands Madoff Be Jailed Immediately

Last week before a House Financial Services Committee investigation into the Bernie Madoff scandal, Harry Markopolos, a well-known financial analyst and certified fraud examiner, with intelligence service experience, dropped a bombshell with his presentation on the results of his investigations into the Madoff case—namely that a not-insignificant portion of Madoff's money came from the drug trade and other organized crime sources.

Upon learning this I wondered how his neighbors received the news. Does not Madoff's remaining in his home risk public harm? The Oklahoma City Federal Building bombing in 1995 comes to mind.

The man should be jailed. How can there be any doubt Bernie Madoff is a threat to the public's safety given Mr. Markopolos' testimony?
