When Public Service Cuts Threaten Domestic Tranquility

Are cuts in law enforcement and emergency response upholding the constitution?

Every man has his sword on his thigh because of fear in the night.
Song of Solomon

How does a nation insure its domestic tranquility when its government is forced to cut public services that were put in place to accomplish this very mandate?

Surely, elected representatives who came up with trillions of dollars to backstop a bankrupt financial system must be aware of their perfidy as the fallout from their attempt to salvage the unsalvageable leads to such clear demonstration of the fact that, nothing was saved. The solvency crisis remains, it is hitting states and municipalities hard, and there is no end in sight. This fiscal crisis will continue for as long as legislators refuse to do their jobs and move to reorganize in bankruptcy. The time for restructuring and creating a new credit system capable of satisfying our government's mandate (as such is laid out in the U.S. Constitution's Preamble) has come when public safety is as seriously threatened as it is today.
