Peter Rose, Expeditors International CEO, in describing last year's "unmitigated disaster" no doubt intimately understands the dire consequences resulting from a dysfunctional credit system suffering a seizure...
Yet to imply today's challenge largely lies in unfounded pessimism entirely misses the point. Be that as it may, Mr. Rose's attitude toward his company's employees, wherein apparently their posterity is a fundamental consideration driving the manner in which Expeditors International is being run — avoiding scams as well as ignoring calls for cutting costs — is a breath of fresh air. One need not agree with every bit of the man's sense of reality to see he possesses uncommon capacity for leadership.
